Going to be setting up a couple of blinds on a new piece of land, approx. 230 ac. About 1/3 wooded, 2/3 pasture. Most of the wooded area is on the north edge and southeast corner.

How close to a fence line can we put a blind and be neighborly? So far the closest we are thinking about would be about 50 yds.

We maintain a 100 yard distance for feeders and blinds.

Bow blinds 75 yards. Rifle blinds 150 yards. I would be ticked if someone was any closer to my fenceline then that.

Get to know your neighbors. Talk with them. If they don't hunt it, they might not care how close you are. Communication always helps with avoiding misunderstandings.

Otherwise, 150+ yards...

Great advice. And ALWAYS face your stand inward from the fenceline so as not to be shooting across into someone else's land.

I would talk to them also never hurts to exchange phone numbers

A)incase a deer goes over the fence
B) if you see something fishy
C)if livestock comes over the fence

If they dont hunt and like you... you may of just aquired more acreage

You would be suprised how many grumps you can win over just be being overly nice and helpful.

Definitely all blinds will face the interior of the property.

We just acquired access to the land this morning so I haven't chased down the neighbors yet. I'll need to make a few phone calls as the property is 6 hours away.

I know of three old blinds on the property that haven't been used for years. We may recycle, repair, or replace these. It's been awhile since I have been on the place so I don't know what shape they're in.

what the others said. You can orient your blinds TOWARDS your neighbors property if you are down a hill shooting INTO the hill. The main thing is make sure that if you MISS your bullet does not travel to another neighbors' property.

Also, don't overlook talking to and being nice to your neighbor. I picked up 50 acres FREE just by visiting and asking permission to hunt on his propety. I went from 250 acres to 300. Worked out nice.

We had a neighbors leasors get pissed because we had a blind that was within 50yards of a fence but it faces our property and over looks a deep valley, feeders is 250yds from the fence.

Also we are having a work weekend and getting all the surounding neighbors together for dinner saturday night, everyone gets to exchange phone numbers and meet the guys across the fence.

I make sure the neighbors can't see where my blinds/feeders are. At least 200yds in. Any closer you take a chance losing one over the fence

Are you talking about bow hunting or rifle?

Bow yes 200 sounds good.

If rifle, less is ok as long as they are not hunting next to you.

I would much rather have my neighbors blind directly on the fence facing inwards.

That means so bullets in my direction.

100 yards min. I have had issues with a bunch of my neighbors putting blinds and feeders within 25 yards of my fences just because I DONT have any blinds close by. I have a gentleman's agreement with one of my other neighbors that none of us will place a blind or feeder within 100 yards of a fenceline without consulting the other.

I have 3,600 acres leased in Baylor County. The adjoinging lease has three blinds actually ON our fence line. I don't like it but really there is nothing I can do about it. There are wheat fields on my side of the fence so you can guess why they have blinds at the lease line.

Very strange situation but nothing I can do about it.

Proper communication with your neighbor can work wonders. Talk to them and figure out the best solution for the both of you.
