I made a trip to South Dakota to see family and friends. Went out to Mobridge and got a couple days of shooting in. Had a great time shooting p-dogs.

Tons more than usual in the spot I go to in Oklahoma. Just west of Oklahoma City. Just family place but numbers were much better than normal.

Thought maybe between the plaque and the drought the numbers would be way down here in Texas.

I'm going up close to Higgins this weekend to shoot some. I let you know how the numbers are around there.

How do you hunt prairie dogs? Sounds interesting. I'm picturing that whack-a-mole game where they pop up from random holes and you hit them...

The drought is getting to them. They are thinking with their stomachs and not their heads right now. Starts getting good at 8 a.m. then shuts off like a light switch at 11:30. They are staying in the holes until about 6 p.m. because of the heat. It is good until dark. Had guys this morning shoot 250+ rounds before lunch. Seeing black spots on them, maybe it is mange. Don't know. Later, B

We just got back from the TX Panhandle , they seemed very nervous, too educated for this early. Most shots were 400+ yards. As soon as we got in the areas they were running everywhere then done. They kept a 400 yard buffer. Next time I will be sighted in with that in account, one guns was and hit several. Lots of fun. The short grass due to burn off and short grass had an impact too, IMO.

We went out to the Pronger's place in Dumas 2 years ago but haven't been back because of scheduling issues. From what I heard last the dogs just aren't there like they used to be.
