He use to only add $50-$75...( Your Getting Screwed if they are charging you extra for tanning! Your suppose to leave a lil extra anyways for the regular shoulder mount...)))) My taxi is same price for shoulder mt as wall pedistal and DAMN good work as well. $150 or more for a wall ped is freakin rediculous.

Mine is the same for shoulder mount or wall pedestal. Didn't think there was much more work.

i understand the $600 wp if it is in velvet. the time in injecting the horns and clearing all the blood out of them takes time, and especially if he gets them freeze dried.

Velvet axis freeze dried I would expect close to that $600 range, if not more. When I had mine done for wall pedestal in velvet it was in that range. The additional charge for the wall pedestal itself was about $20. But the velvet was the kicker and getting it freeze dried was well worth it.

Had a hunter shoot a nice axis buck and an exceptional fallow buck. He is getting full body mounts on both. What would that run at most taxi?

My Taxidermist does a hell of a job on life size mounts...He is doing 9 life size mounts this year off of my ranch from Whitetail to bongo... On Axis and Fallow the charge $3,000 that comes with a really nice base with scenery on it

Josh, your taxidermist is an amazing artist, he does really good work. (I hope he don't read this and get a big head! LOL) But if I do a custom backing on a wall ped, or a regular ped. I'm getting an extra $175.00. Folks that have me do it are going to pay extra for something unique. Just like the guys who use you for skull work. Quality is going to cost you.

To each his own, lots of good taxi's some better than others I like some guys work better than others (personal preference) as long as it is good clean work that is the main thing and what a guy wants to pay is his business, you want to spend 175 for some special backing that doesn't show on a wall pedestal more power to you, tto each his own, the extra money for dealing with velvet is understable, but for backing on a wall pedestal, to me that is wasted money.

BMD, you are right, everyone makes the choice on what to spend. But, the backing does show on a wall pedistal. Not on a regular shoulder mount, but a wall ped, yes. I don't have any finished pics right now, but heres one I'm working on, a regular pedistal, it'll have some cactus and a mounted copperhead added to it. The addition of the snake will make this one above $175.00 extra. We could be on the price discusion all day, just like the guys who gripe about having to pay over $700.00 for a lease. Too each his own.

I have 3 or four wall pedestals and the back doesnt show. A full pedestal yes but not a wall pedestal. Unless you are staring down the side of the wall confused2

From the side! If the Taxidermist left it in Bare foam you'd be mad as heck wouldn't you. LOL He had to do something there. Granted if he just put felt or leather, it's a minimal charge. But if he wants something custom, it's going to cost. Like one I've got coming up, it'll be a sandstone rock, with the Mason's emblem stamped and painted in, It's personel to him, and he's willing to pay.
And some suppliers offer wall ped that show more back. FYI
I love the brows on that middle deer. He's a hoss!!

Of course I have it covered with leather it would be a waste to spend money back there when you can barely see it. I assure you I never see the leather that is there. Nice work on the full pedestal but you have to admit on a wall pedestal it would be a bit of a waste, not saying you shouldn't do it if a customer wants to pay you for it but it is pretty much a waste to spend extra cash for it on a wall pedestal.
