I have been looking into a 22 conversion kit for my RRA and was wondering if anyone else has one and how do you like it?
Im trying to decide if its worth it or would purchasing a dedicated 22 LR in the AR platform be a better idea.

I dont have a lot of experience with them but I do know people are always talking about having problems with them. I see on the AR forum guys are always having to tweak and modify stuff on them. Thats mainly why I never bought one. If it were me Id buy a dedicated 22 upper. I have only had one but didnt have any problems and have talked ot several guys that use them and I cant remember anyone ever having any issues. You could always go with a 10/22 !!

My only experience is with the CMMG ones. They work and work very well. Some say they needed to break it in before it would cycle subs, mine cycled subs right out of the box luckily. They are an awesome way to plink cheap. Ours even works great on our M16.

I have been told that a 22lr needs a 1/15 twist to be very accurate at its outer range. Is this true?

Brandon I've got a 10-22 and Model 60. I'm looking for a cheaper way to train with my AR. I kinda like the idea of the conversion but I don't wanna deal with problems. IDK.

Sgt. that is a sweet rig you have there. What did that set you back if you don't mind me asking?

It cost alot for all the toys i bought for it. Good thing is all the toys will fit on my other rifles. I am not done though. Got a bayonet for it, waiting on the lug and a few more items. For every thing I got in it over 1000. Call me crazy I guess.

WOW! And if you don't mind me asking: WTF are you going to do with a bayonet? I feel sorry for a coon that you catch up in a tree.

I reserched and found alot of info on the conversion kits. I also talked to a friend of mine who is an AR armorer and he recommended the CMMG stainless kit. I ordered one with an extra mag today from www.cdnnsports.comI'll post a range report next week.

Spend the money and buy a dedicated .22 lr upper not the conversion kit. They are well worth the extra money

Alot of people say they work fine What about getting a 10/22 for basically the same price of the conversion? I'm about to go that route cause I want to buy 2100 rounds at cabelas for $75 LOL. My AR is breaking the bank to shoot every weekend.

I know I'm a little late on this review but better late than never. I received the conversion kit and my extra mag. The kit was $149 and the extra mag $25 I'm firing it in a Rock River Arms tactical entry. I gave it a cleaning and lube and headed to the range. CMMG recommends Federal Ammunition and now I know why. I started with Remington and Winchester 36 gr. because thats what I had around the house. Numerous failure to feed, a few double feeds and jams. The next day I bought a box of Federal and fired the whole box in one range session with only one FTF. Hoppes #9 and some steel wool and it cleans up pretty well. Sometimes I drop it in a jar of mineral spirits over night and clean up is real easy. I'm pleased with it, It sure makes training alot cheaper.
