I am looking into getting a black lab puppy for dove and upland hunting with the following characterisics
1. From good pedigree tilted more towards HT than FT(i.e. I want sire to have MH/HRCH, and dam have at least JH/SHR or close to obtaining titles) 2. Price $800-$1,200 3. Field lines (no english "show" traits) 4. OFA, CERF, EIC, CNM status verified and have "good" or better and "clear" status 5. Located in Texas (central, south, east location if possible) 6. male 1st pref/ female 2nd pref. 7. Looking to pick up about 2-4 months from Mid Jan 2011
If anyone could point to someone who knows of such a puppy I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

Call Rody Best of Best Retrievers he has exactly what ur looking for. What ever litter you pick make sure you look the sire and dam up on entryexpress and see what there pass/fail ratio is in hunt tests. It will help you determine how good the dog/trainer really are

Thanks for the info, however the sire has too much of an "english" composition for me. I need a leaner dog that can handle hot weather dove hunting.

Thanks for the info on Rody. I met him a few weeks back and visited his kennel. Glad to have my initial assessment confirmed by you guys. I have talked to Rody and am waiting on confirmation of the "scout" x "pepper" breeding. If that breeding doesn't take I was looking to see what other options may be out there.
