I typically only hunt Hogs and with handguns. I have one scoped and one with Irons. Terrain dictates what I use.

Truck guns or Night hunts for hogs are scoped rifles.

I said scope but a lot depends on
when we are hunting... night or day
where are we hunting... tight quarters or open spaces

I have guns with both open sights and scopes, MOST of the time I'm using a scope.

IMO, iron sights were much more common decades ago when the only shot you might get was one in which the deer was walking or even running. In those days, it wasn't uncommon to find a guy who could quickly hit a deer after it hit the ground just once while crossing an old logging road or trail. I am still not such a guy.

Heck, nowadays there seems to be no shortage of those who can't hit one standing still while they're sitting comfortabe in an old office chair.

Call me an Ole Timer if you wish, but feeders and food plots have taken a severe toll on the average hunter's shooting skills.

Scopes on most guns, My eyessight is not what used to be, On a the sharps, M1A and 30carbine peep sights, and 22s some open sone scoped.

Is it just me or are most open sights on new guns these days crap compared to the older brass beed front sights?

Perhaps "yes", because most manufacturers expect the owner to never use them.

Scopes for me. Can't argue with the long range benefits.

Scope for me. Having a scope comes in handy more often than the annoyance of having a scope.

You should go open sights killer. That way you can get a follow up shot easier...cause we know you're gonna miss!

Depends on the area of the lease I hunt. Highlines and pipelines with shots out to 300yrds I use a scope, for the thick brush stands or still hunting I use iron sights.

Depends on how far away I am. And how good a persons eyes are! Me, I'm good at 150 open, but after that I prefer a scope!

I have both...I have 22's that are iron sight and a couple with scopes.
My Tikka 243 has a scope, the 8mm Mauser does not.
My new Spike's AR don't so far, but it is a utility gun, non-precision.
Later it may get a low powered scope as I would use it like a truck/saddle gun,
fast handling and K.I.S.S.
