Not where I hunt. I have been hunting the same property in East Texas for almost 20 years and I have yet to find out where they go when the acorns drop. Makes hunting very tough.

From the past few seasons, the acorns have not lasted due to the hog populations that have shown up in lower Taylor county, the deer will be on those feeders faster than in years past.
Hogs can smell an acorn and will root the ground till they have gotten them all.

I take it you have never seen the Hill Country of Texas with 1,000's and 1,000's of acres of Live Oaks, Shin Oak, Spanish Oak and some Post Oaks. Kinda hard to find that one spot when there are that many of them. Most of the areas north of IH-10 have Oaks of some sort.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

I agree, too many oak trees can make things very difficult. The deer post up in there favorite hiding place, munch on acorns and don't have to move to feed. I just try and move to an area where there are a lot of acorns on the ground and the least human traffic. It can be hard on leases with lots of hunters and stands. Good luck and be patient.

Our place is 820 acres. I would guess 750 acres of it is thick woods. 90% of the trees are black jack, red oak, white oak, and very little live oak. 10% Pecan, apex, cedar, and bois d' arc. Not all acorns are created equal. If you find the right group of trees the deer will be concentrated better then any feeder. Our place is a giant hill with bottom land. Sometimes drainages get the right amount of water some time they get to much and make bad acorns. Some time the top of the hill with less water makes better acorns. Some times the hill side is the best. One year they love the black jacks acorns one year they love the red oaks. Its just finding what they like. Alot of years I think this will be one the acorns when opened are like powder under a lot of trees. These years find a good producing tree and its on. Find areas pawed up and its awesome.

I agree with okie.. Stop being lazy and find where they are going..This only means mature bucks don't have to be stupid to eat..Alittle work and you will find them..

Good luck on that, because if all of the oak trees are across the fence and you can glass all the deer over there, you better have another plan to get them over to your place.

During gun season sit next to a tree. I shot a buck at 8 yards last year against a tree. Pop up blinds work great. I still hunt my tower stands on feeders and greenfields but if they want acorns I go with them

I have TWO oak tees on my place & they are about to start dropping. I think I'm gonna bow hunt them out of a pop-up. Hope the pigs don't find them!!!

Most oaks are like pecans trees and only produce every other year at best depending on rain. If you have any White Oaks that are producing acorns this year, you have found the spot to set up. White oaks are the number one choice of WT's.
