During the first few weeks does anyone throw out drake teal or only hens?

Anything will work.

I throw out both and some mallard hens.

Doesn't really matter...I try to keep hens but I haven't noticed much difference throwing drakes too...heck I guided a party of 4 guys in an uncut rice field once and just used 1 mojo and that's it...they looked at me like I was crazy and a little mad...needless to say they limited out.

i agree doesnt really matter. Drakes really dont have their plumage yet, but they would probably light into milk jugs painted brown

watch out for the woodies.....

Doesn't matter. Doesn't even need to be teal dekes if you're where the birds want to be you could throw out some coots.

If I'm hunting open water with, I'll put out teal dekes and a couple of pairs of woodies off the the side. and at least 1 mojo early. Might pull em if they flair.

If the teal are using a spot that has alot of crap in the water, lilly pads, gator grass, smart weed, etc. I'll go bigger and use hen mallards, gads, and anything brown. They seem to pick up the bigger decoys better in this situation
