yea he is ! He would be a trophy had he been a true 8. 2 years ago he only had one point on the main beam, never saw him last year, and now this year here's what he looks like.

Still a trophy for east texas, but thats the difference in a euro mount and shoulder mount !!! haha

Yep, the TPWD really made a big mistake with those antler restrictions (chuckle).

Nope, this is not high fence.

My brother, dad and I are the only hunters and have strictly managed it for the last 3 years.
(Kept the doe/buck ratio 1:1 roughly) Killed trash bucks (3 pt/ spike, OLD 4 pt, etc...) We also have passed on several of these bucks last year not b/c of the 13 inch rule, but to produce this.

Up until this year, our lease was just like all the other east texas leases, a bunch of trash deer, nocturnal deer, and 2 and 1/2 year old 8 pts.

These photos are on 2 leases, the two seperate bachelor groups are on seperate leases. They are both about 200 acres about 2 miles from each other.

I still can't believe it myself, everyone ask me if it is high fence or south texas and they don't believe us. But by not pulling the trigger a few years(or nocking an arrow), this is what we have!

I can't wait till Oct. 2nd!

Great looking deer. I hunt next to you in Panola county and the deer on my place have really increased in antler size in the last three years as well. I believe the AR's play a big part in it..

Looks like someone deer season is going to have some hard choices to make. What to shot.

If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

Very nice. I hunt on my land in northern Gregg County just north of Longview. We took two very nice bucks last year there (a nice 10 and nice 11 pt.). The key to hunting the Piney Woods is to just get enough time in the stand to see one of these trophys. They are there, but you have to invest the time. Driving in from Dallas for a weekend hunt may not get it.

I have two leases in West Texas (Sterling County and Baylor County). It is a little different out there. Very easy to rifle hunt but alot harder to bow hunt. I had to learn how to use a ground blind in Sterling County. Very strange not to have trees, but it makes for easier hunting.

East Texas is great and I have NO problems with AR!

I also like to "hunt" sporting clays with my Benelli SuperSport!

Man, you hit the nail on the head millerliteliker....

I usually hunt between 30-40 hunts per year just to have a chance at these suckers. Other parts of texas might need to hunt 30-40 minutes!

I like being in the stand though, better than work any day!
