Ok, I have a Savage Model 11 in .223 Can i shoot the 5.56 nato out of it or no? I know its hotter just dont know if my gun can handle it!
Since I don't own a 4x4 I only Hunt in State Parks with Pavement!!!

I suggest not. There are lots of different factors but I find the military primers are harder. Much harder. Many commercial rifles will not fire them. I olny noticed this on the 5.56 not on the 7.62 nato

I may be mistaken here but from what I understand, if you have a firearm chambered in .223 it will not shot 5.56 But if you have one chambered in 5.56 it will shoot .223
And as mentioned above the primers are much harder.

Do not shoot a 5.56 in a 223. You can shoot a 223 in a 5.56. The 5.56 operates at higher pressures than the 223 therefore the chamber in a 223 may not handle the difference. The increased pressure is from the thicker casing on the 5.56. I have not done scientific experiments on this, but I have done a lot of reading online to learn the above. I hope this helps.

No problem. I made sure my AR was chambered in 556 for this reason.
