I am looking into buying some dog boots and would like to know your opinion about boots and if you use them what kind to buy and where. I hunt mainly in West Texas and we have a ton of cactus on the ground.
Thanks for your help!

The best by far are Lewis boots. Been using them for over 35 years and wouldn't switch.

I hate booting dogs. I wouldn't and don't go through the effort for cactus. I'll do it for grass burrs only if I have too.

Ive been told by others not to use them. Makes it hard to get things out.
I'll take a Black Female every time.

These are what we have used for three years now & love them, the dogs can run through anything. Click the link. http://www.gundogsupply.com/barkin-boots-ruff-wear-dog-boots.html_________________________ Do these boots stay on okay? Do you have to do anything special to them and what size are you using? I am thinking about the medium size after measuring my dogs foot width. I am going to order them tonight. Thanks so much.

Here is what I picked up after a sticker filled dove trip last year. Got the dog comfortable with them - but I need to do some more training with her wearing these. Sure looked funny the first time they wear um. Use duct tape - wrap around the ankle with the tape sticky side up, put the boot on, and another wrap sticky side down. ~Doug

Yes we have used the same ones for three years, the first year we didn't use any tape at all but Max lost one boot. Since then I use one wrap of duct tape at the top & haven't lost another one since, then nice thing about them is they are sticker & cactus proof, plus they give the dog great traction in loose dirt. We have three sets of them. Also, if you lose one, you can buy a replacement, you dont have to buy four more. I think we have med for Max & Jake and small For Daisy.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Do you feel that the size is true to the chart. I was thinking Md just to make sure they stay on but he is measuring closer to 3 inches. What do you think?
Thanks again

I would probably go with the large.

The question to ask Guy is how did he know there were those kind of boots for dogs? Maybe he's thinking about some for his Lab?
