Proposed Season Dates.
http://www.texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1470266

The proposed amendment to §65.315 also would implement a 16-day statewide teal season to run from September 11 - 26, 2010, which must be approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) before it can be implemented. If the Service does not approve a 16-day season, the department proposes to adopt a 9-day season to run September 18 - 26, 2010. The department cautions that the federal frameworks could close the season on teal if population data warrant. By federal law, the number of days in the September teal season count against the 107 days of total hunting opportunity allowed for ducks, coots, and mergansers.

could Texas do away with teal season and add those 16 days to the regular season?

I would like for that to happen.

As long as the BWT and GWT numbers continue to stay strong, it will never happen.

too hot, not many birds, and too many water moccasins in my part of the world.

I would rather have 16 more days in the season.

North Texas Aint had a 107 day season in the last 15 Years. Last year was 90 days counting the 16 day teal season.

The farther south you go the more you appreciate Teal season.

I love early teal. Sure it's hot and there is a much of monster skeeters, but hearing those big bunches of blue wings buzz a blind makes the hair on my neck stand up. Besides, it's a great warm up for the real deal later in the year. There really isn't much to early teal like there is to big ducks so it's an easy way to get gear ready and make sure stuff works before it gets cold.

+1, I love early teal season despite the heat and mosquitos!! Plus, once the south dove season opens, you can double dip!

I agree also. Most people down here don't bring their dogs during teal season because of too many gators still active. Just tack on 8 days before the season and 8 more after.

Just out of the Army. No duck hunting in Germany or Iraq for me and FT HOOD area is terrible for Ducks. I now live near Wichita Falls, anyone know where a good place to go is or how migrating is in this area?
