I saw a cougar strolling through the building where I work today. Wouldn't mind if she pounced on me. Does that count?

There have been several sightings around mountian springs this year, T.P.W.have confirmed them , several sightings on black jack road up there. I have family there and said several land owners have seen them.

Saw one in Kemp, Texas in summer of '08. Rifle was not loaded yet or he'd be in front of my fireplace right now. He went behind a large cedar and I waited for 20 minutes for him to come out. He just vanished behind that tree. Never did see him again. Gave me a real uneasy feeling going through the woods later that night.

I absolutely believe you. Cougars are not exceptionally rare in Texas, they just keep themselves hidden.
But there are plenty of them around, unlike black panthers, which there are zero of.

I have seen one at Ray Roberts also, 3 years ago. Duck hunting got real slow, so I followed a deer trail to a creek, on the other side I saw movement, for a split second I thought it was a deer because it was pretty big, then I realized it was a big solid colored cat, with a long tail. I loaded up before walking in the rest of that season.

You hear Black Panther sightings all the time in Louisiana. People swear they see them, but who knows. Biologist say there is not such a thing. Now about Cougars. There have been a few sightings in Louisiana. I have seen a picture of one taken on a Cuddeback that a guy I work with had out. The picture was taken in western LA., not far from the Toledo Bend area. It was definately a Cougar. The same cat that lives in Texas and further west. Of course people call them Panthers over here, but they are Cougars, Moutain Lions, or Pumas, whatever you want to call them. If we have a few over here, I'm sure there are more in Texas than most people believe.

It would not surprise me at all. I am out there a lot and see deer just leisurely hanging around every time I am there in the evenings. Would make for easy pickings for a big cat. Always keep a camera handy!!!

it seems like the reports of these things are escalating all the time around the metroplex areas....is it a growing population of cats or more frequent people movement?..been living out here in the great west my whole life and never seen a track of one..
