ok guys im not wanting to spend over 400 or so on a shotgun that ill only use for dove. with that said i want the best deal for the money, right now im thinking benelli nova but it is heavy ive had a supernova and it weighed a ton or seemed that way. remmy has really gone dowhill so im not thinking of an 870 really. maybe a yildiz? dont have any experience with them. what do yall think?

Why has Remington gone down hill? I have never had a mouth function with my 870 super mag or my 1100 and they have some serious rounds through them!!!

it seems as if the quality of production in the last few years has gone downhill. ive had experience with 2 separate 870 express models that failed, and have heard of quite a few more. on this forum in fact. and youre talking about the 1100 which they havent made in atleast 10 yrs, when the quality was still high. dont get me wrong though, 870 wingmasters are the tops of my list but im looking for durable reliable and cheaprer...

Remington is still making the 1100, and it's still a great gun. There is nothing wrong with the 870 IMO. I have two and both are two of my most reliable guns! I also have a Benelli and no conplaints there either. I just don't understand all the poo-pooing Remington gets.

well my first hand experience with those 2 870's was the exact same result, now with that said i love a wingmaster, but im looking for that 400 or 450 and less gun that im not afraid to scratch etc. im not taking remington outta contention but i just know what issues that ive had with them. really what im looking at in the remington is gonna be more the 887 but know of no one thats had any experience with them. they look cool and feel good in the store but havent heard anything about them yet.... so for me as far as the pump goes its really the 870 express, 887, or nova... of those 3 the prices are cheapest to most expensive. not more than 100 dollars separates them. anyway, let me know what yall think.

X2 1911guncrazy! never had a problem with my 870 or my 1100. Several thousand rounds through both.

Remington WINGMASTER 870 is still one of the best guns made, ever. Remington EXPRESS 870 is NOT VERY GOOD... especially in the super mag version...

Find me a new 1100 in his $400 price range...

If it's dove only, I'd say find an older 1100

x2 I've got an 870 that was my only shotgun for about ten years. I have no idea how many rounds I've put through it and never had any problems.

Here's what you need:

This is a new field version of the 1187. I think it is new for 2010.

I have seen several 11-87's in that price range.

I actually bought an 11-96 for $300 not too long ago and have had great luck with it so far. It was only made for 3 years and is a lot like an 11-87 except it is lighter. Its a great shooter and is easy to carry around.

There are plenty of good deals out there if you take your time and find them.

If you are only wanting new, though, you'd have to go with the 870,887, nova, or the like.

I guess you could get a Yildiz or a Stoeger O/U. They're in that price range.

yeah id really like new, and nothing against the 870's but like i said in the last 3 yrs 2 of my friends have bought them new and had cycling issues where they will hang or stick its happened to me with their guns as well. now and older 870 doesnt seem to have the same issues. dont really think im looking for an autoloader. really dont want a pump but i cant find a quality sxs or o/u for that money.... again, i have a wingmaster and love it, but in the 4 yrs ive had it i find myself being so much more cautious to where the hunt isnt even fun anymore. i bought a supernova for my dad and used it several times myself and was happy with the performance and the fact i can just lay it in the dirt but it was heavier and that made a big diff at the end of the day

Sounds like you need an 870. Durable and in your price range.

That, or buy used.

If you get an 1100 you may have to put a gas ring pack on it. Some people will sell them cheap cause they won't cycle and most of the time its rings.

There is nothing wrong with my Mossy 500 for a budget gun and the 18 1/2" HD barrel can be bought fairly cheap and its a dual role gun.

Glock perfection. The very best and only handgun I will ever have. Nothing comes close!
