What is everyone's opinion of the Taurus PT111 Millenium Pro 9mm? I've heard that it is a great gun and that Taurus has improved its quality significantly and I've read in a few places that people have problems with the gun.

If you are looking for a cheap reliable 9 I think its a good bet. I have heard a lot of good things. That said, you could spend about $75-100 more and get quite a bit more gun IMO, glock 26, XD subcompact, etc...
Would this be a carry weapon?

Yeah, I have a Beretta PX4 Storm .40, but I'm trying to figure out what my carry gun is going to be. I want something that is pretty easy to conceal. Would those other guns you mentioned be just as easy to conceal?

I've had and carried the Millenium Pro in 9mm and had no issues. You can pick them up for $275.00-300.00 if you're patient. The trigger pull takes some getting used to, but you will get use to over time.

When I worked at Academy we sold more of the PT111 then any other pistol. Not once while I was working there did one come back for repairs. They come with lifetime warranty's and often when companies do that they actually produce quality firearms.
As great as it is, you can now buy XD-40 sub compacts for $399 new which isn't much more than the Taurus. The XD is a tiny bit larger but for a carry piece I would go the XD route.
I just personally trust Springfield a bit more than Tarus.

Is that the brand new price? I think you can get them brand new at Academy for $329...is that a good price?

Yes, two different dealers at the gun show. To me it would be worth the $70 but you are still getting a fine piece at the $300 price point.
They used to sell a compact verion of the milinium it only ran $279 but I haven't seen much of them recently.

I just got an XD9 Subcompact about two weeks ago and I absolutley love it. As mentioned, it won't be as slim as the millenium but is still an excellent carry piece even for IWB. I paid $415 at the big town gun show. I highly recommend the XDs.

Only thing I don't like about the Millenium is the vestigial safety. If it's what you want, grab one- lots of people carry them with no complaints. My personal carry gun is an XD40 Sub Compact, and I think it is a great compromise between value and dependability...

not sure where you are located but I would definitely try the Fort Worth gun show this weekend at the Will Rogers center. There should be a ton of XDs out there.

I picked mine up slightly used with the XD gear off of Texas Gun trader for $400.00. You can buy one from S.A.W. at the gun show for $399.00 without all the XD gear, or around $440.00 with the extras. S.A.W. typcially has the lowest prices, but I find they don't bring a lot of the $399.00 sets with them to the shows, so go early if you're going to buy one from them.

I went to the last Big Town show intending to buy one from SAW but I was turned off by how rude and unhelpful the man working their booth was- I had cash in hand, literally, and he acted like I was bothering him. I ended up buying one lightly used from Blackland Guns with all the accessories for $399.

My advice would be to stop by an ATM and get a cash advance. Cash talks at gunshows. Not saying it will always happen, but occasionally they might forget to charge you tax. Never hurts to ask what they'll do cash out the door...
