I was thinking about adding a magnification lens to my bow sight. Seems like it would help for longer shots. Any thoughts? Likes/Dislikes?? Thanks.

imho, they really aren't needed for hunting situations. Now if you are shooting tournys then they come in handy but you will find out fast that you need a shade cover and a lens cloth to keep it clean.

Maybe it's my inexperience with bowhunting? I normally try to aim small/miss small, but over 40 yards I have trouble seeing a small aimpoint....so my arrows aren't consistently in the kill zone. Sounds like I just need more practice.....

well you can try to go that route, but I'de look at smaller pins and a smaller peep first.

go get the microdiameter pins (.10) or possibly a sliding sight that adjusts forward or back based on the distance of your target. i've got one and it helps out on the focus much better on longer shots

Swamp - I just got my first bow a couple of months ago. Been shooting about 3-4 days/week. Love it!

Smaller pins & a smaller peep sounds like a good idea to me. I think I'll try that route.

Beware the magnification is VERY hard to use in shadowed areas.

I'd either get smaller pins or choose a larger target that you can center on better. You should be able to shoot a 3" circle at 40yds w/ the pins you got. As long as you have the outer part of the circle to focus on you should be able to drill the center. If not, you just need to practice.

Remember: Perfect practice makes perfect.

The more you practice at long ranges. The better you'll become. It takes time to get use to the distances and what you can and can't see. It's not like shooting a gun w/ a scope and it isn't intended to be either.

JMHO.....but you shouldn't be shooting at animals past 40 yards anyway.
