does the shedding last on the lab? First one I or the wife has owned and it is CRAZY how much hair can fall out of one animal and still have hair on it. I brush her and brush her and think you got it all and about an hour later you can do it all over again. The cockers sure don't shed like this mule does Just wanting to know how much longer we have to deal with this, thanks guys.

be careful not to overbathe a lab as this can dry out their skin badly. i went and got a zoom groom from petsmart. It works great all the hair sticks to the brush from the static. It shines their coat too. Right now will be one of the worst times of year for lab shedding until their summer coat is in. It gets bad at the begining of summer and going into the fall. zoom groom made by kong does work though.

Furminator will do wonders... Although right now you will have to use it once a week and give a bath immediately after so that you get all the hair out.
Get used to the shedding... Never really stops if you live in Texas, only gets lighter at different times of the year...
I have started leaving my dog outside because of it

I couldn't be so lucky Seriously, it hasn't been bad at all the last 2 months but this month has made up for all the others. I can't believe how much hair we have it every where and it seems the wife is biotching and sweeping every single nite. We will make it through it but it ain't no fun.

WTF did you think I got married for??? Come on dude...you'll get there eventually. I will brush Oak because she likes it and normally either nibbles on your arm or gives kisses when you brush her

Get a furminator for sure, I try to brush my dog once a week with it, I keep the shop vac turned on as well the whole time, otherwise there will be fur every where.

X4 on the furminator, helps out on the hair alot. But the shedding will never stop. My dog stops shedding so much when the tempeture stays cold every day.

Sometimes I think Charlie sheds more than my Golden. Just get used to it.
the thing about baiting is, even a rookie hunter could have a 170 bird season if they bait holes

Thanks for the encouragement...I will check out the furminator. Wife commented about it driving her nuts again tonite. It probably don't help that she stays by my side 99% of the time

Thanks for the encouragement...I will check out the furminator. Buy it from Amazon.com vs a pet store, and you will save a few bucks. And I got the big one vs the small one. Some say they get the small one so they can get in tight spots, but you will not get much hair out of those tights spots anyway. Most of your time will be spent on the back and side of the dog, that is all I primarily brush. I like the long blade because I can do 2 or 3 strokes before I remove the hair from the blade (each stroke I use a different part of the blade that is clean), and I have my shop vac in the other hand or under my foot to suck the hair off the blade. I agree with the comments above that your dog will never stop shedding, but the furminator will cut down big time on the shedding. W/o the furminator you reach down to pet your dog and you get a hand full of hair, I can’t imagine having a lab w/o one.

Guy is steering you right. Buy the Furminator on-line, and buy the big one ! Use it several times a week and it will keep the loose hair down substantially.

But I ferminate outside. Oh I furminate outside as well, I still use my shopvac because I don't care to leave a big furry mess on my property. If there is zero wind, then you can clean up easy enough, but any wind forget that. And pulling the fur off the blade every stroke or 2 and trying to place it in a trash bag or something, too much trouble. And drive to a field and doing it there is also an option but also more trouble than worth, but yeah just going outside and doing it there, if a big furry mess does not bother you outside your place, then that is for sure easier than messing with a shopvac. But I just keep the shopvac on, leave it under my foot, every 2 or 3 stroke, just run the blade in front of the suction and blade is clean. I tell you what someone needs to invent, is an attachment from the shopvac to the furminator, man you would make millions!! Wait, why am I telling you guys this, I need to do that!!

Do not buy a furminator off of the link above, ebay contacted me and said the seller was selling non-authentic furminators and has been removed from ebay. Just a heads up to everyone!!

Tookey is speaking the truth...it appears they don't know if it is legit or not and someone reported them. Here is the first paragraph of the ebay message:
"While the vast majority of trade on our site is legitimate, we take many steps to protect our buyers from sellers who may offer items that are not authentic. One of them is to remove items reported to us as allegedly infringing through eBay's VeRO program. In this case, we removed the listing because the owner of a copyright and/or trademark in this product has reported to us that they believe the item may not be authentic."
I did check my PayPal account and it looks like I have a tracking number and it is coming. I will post back later.
I apologize if anyone gets burned on this deal. I did order from them and based upon the packaging on Amazon this appeared the same and legit. I do have a phone number that I think the guy put in one of his emails to me and I will share if anyone who ordered wants. I won't bug him until I see what happens with the USPS tracking number.
Again, sorry!
