my boss has a highpoint carbine in 9mm, and he swears that it is the best gun that he has ever owned. he took it hog hunting this weekend, i think that it may be a little small to kill hogs, but what is yalls opinion. i am also thinking about getting one. is there any input? is this a good gun or would i be waisting my time? what all could i do with this gun?

I have no experience with a Highpoint carbine, so I can't respond to your question. My opinion of their handguns is that the best use for them is a doorstop or small anchor. I believe a 9mm is way too small for hog hunting, unless you can get up real close and poke it in the hog's ear.

9mm is quite effective either from very close with a handgun or from 50-75 yards with a carbine. The rifle/carbine length barrel tends to increase velocities to a decent level from the longer barrel. My wife has taken several with her HK.

Highpoint's are excellent door stops and paperweights. I have never owned on personally but the ones that i have come across are complete junk,

I have no experience with a Highpoint carbine, so I can't respond to your question. Doesn't know anything about them, not going to respond, but does anyway. Go figure. I have one. My three boys have one. Many in law enforcement have one in the trunk. Don't aim one at anything you are fond of and pull the trigger because it will damn sure go BANG. Very accurate as well. Also have the .45 and .40 pistols. Same results. Best money on firearms I've ever spent. Bud's Gun Shop is online.

alright, i am really getting a mixed review. so i guess some are good and some are bad, i have heard through reading up on them, that they have changed alot over the years, maybe changed owners??? does anybody know who makes the high point? and i guess a 45 would be better for the hogs, maybe?

Check out the keltec sub 2000 carbines, about 300 bucks. You can get them in .40 or 9mm, and they fold in half for easy storage. You can also get them in different models to accept your handgun magazines. I have the .40 that accepts the glock 22 mags. But you can get it in sig, s&w, and other mag wells. I have over 500 rounds through mine and only had one failure to eject, and it was my fault. I should have cleaned it up before I shot it, they do tend to come dirty from the factory. I guess it is some type of rust preventive.

I have a highpoint .40 that had done just fine for me. It's not a high dollar gun so I don't ask it to act like one. It's big, it's ugly,it's heavy, don't even ask me how to take it apart, but it works. the adjustable sights are good, once you get them right you'll hit just fine. For some reason if you put the magazine in and then rack the slide the likelihood of a jam increases. if you lock back the slide, put in the mag, then let it forward it has never jammed on me. about a year after I bought mine, a gun shop owner told me that she had stopped carrying them because she had seen one blow up in a guy's hand during a concealed carry class. It would definately not be my choice for concealed carry, might as well try and hide a cinder block in your waistband or under your shirt. sounds to me like they have some quality control issues from the reviews here.

very little experiance from me so take this with a grain of salt... I shot a friends highpoint 9mm pistol and it shot and fuctioned fine... only put two mags through it, but it shot well and I could live with the accuracy that I was able to get from it, but dang that thing is ugly as sin.....

I would save your money and buy something that you know is gonna go bang EVERY time you pull the trigger. Something about knowing that my life and my families lives could possibly depend on a hi point makes my stomach turn.

here are some pics of my keltec, it only weighs 4 lbs unloaded. And I have 29 round mags for it. It is a .40, but like I said above you can get it in 9mm. Folded, only 16" like this.

I would take a Kel Tek over aa High Point any day ! This is my new favorite gun to shoot. I can't believe how much I love this gun. Plus the lifetime warranty is a benefit, even though I doubt I will need it.

A few months ago I bought a Hi-point 9mm for $150 and yeah if it is not cleaned then it will jam just like at one time another so does every gun. This is a good little gun and yes it will take down some hogs. Is it the best, no but it will do the job and you can't beat the price.

My new Hi-Point 9mm carbine performs flawlessly. Shooting coke cans at 50 yards is a hoot!

My hi-point never failed to fire, feed, or eject and it took a lot of ammo. Mine was the compact pistol in 9mm and it was a perfectly functional gun, it was ugly and quite top heavy though, those are the only complaints.
