Vacuum pump on 2015 3.5 ecoboost is leaking oil. I bought 2 just to compare . One is a dorman from autozone. The other is from napa. The dorman one has more movement on the center cam part I have circled. It slides much further up that pin. Not sure if I want more or less movement there but it's a significant amount that I noticed right away. Which one would you have installed?

I don’t want anything from autozone, rock auto, parts geek or cardone. Period.

Rockauto is only a broker and they have no inventory of their own. It is also the absolute best game in the parts business. I partnered in a franchised Parts Plus store many years ago and know the business really well.

Trolling? Heck no, I meant every word of it.

Also the napa pump has stainless hex screws on the back plate vs the dorman that has black painted phillips so assuming the napa is better quality. Just wanted to check about that cam movement before install..

That's my thoughts as well

I stand by my statement.

You bring me parts from those places and my labor has no warranty. I’ll also be charging you to get the replacement part from a local and reputable store. This will be important to the vehicle owner also….. try getting your money back from one of the online parts stores accept for 1Aauto of course, they are a great company IMO.

I didn't realize you turned wrenches for a living. Typically I wouldn't install customer supplied parts either. I don't think you understand how RockAuto works. They are simply a broker that has a list of everyone's inventory and when you click on a part to purchase a pick ticket gets printed in the warehouse supplying the part and that part get shipped to you. RockAuto has pre-negotiated prices with the warehouses and they charge the End customer a slight markup. If you don't like the quality of the parts they provide that's your own fault because for any given part there's usually about 20 different brands to pick from. I work on my own cars and have easily spent $150k with RockAuto over the past 14 years. I've never once had an issue with returning a part or warranty through them but I think that's because of how much I buy from them. When I was a mechanic I usually bought stuff from local WDs such as World pack.

I don't even know how that is possible. Not trying to second guess your abilities but do you know what you're doing? Most of the time it's the exact same stuff you buy in your local auto parts store and if you know the brands to order it's frequently dramatically higher quality than what you can buy locally at 1/3 the cost. Retail a typical V belt from O'Reilly's is nearly $30, that exact same belt from the exact same manufacturer is about 7 on RockAuto. Check out the cost of Premium wiper blades at your local auto parts store versus rockauto. Nearly $25 each retail and $5 from RockAuto. Got a late model car that uses high tech Spark plugs? 25 a piece from the parts store, $8 a piece depending on the brand from RockAuto. I buy premium oil filters on RockAuto by the case and they're about five bucks a piece. The exact same oil filter at the store is $15. I am a Car Junkie and keep a very large inventory of parts for the personal vehicles that I own and for all of my work trucks. The only thing I don't buy on RockAuto is engine oil or coolant because shipping is so high. Amazon has about the same price on those items along with free shipping.

If you're not familiar with the various brands of parts for any particular product line you should probably stick with Napa if you like buying from brick and mortar stores. Usually everything they have is good quality or top quality.

I would have bought from a local shop but nobody had it other than the Ford dealer which would be motorcraft. I figured napa is equivalent to that.
