Red Deer Hind - 01/03/23 03:00 AM

Would like to put a Red Deer Hind in the freezer in the fall of 2023. Anybody doing hunts for them?

we used huntsintexas.com year ago in Junction. One son killed a red hind and the other a mouflon. The red deer was any easy hunt, the mouflon was a challenge. Lodging and meals were decent.

BJACK, do you recall how much meat that red deer hind provided? How is it compared with what I am told is the cadillac of venisons, Axis?

i looked at my kubys order and it said 90lbs weighed in. Its very good lean meat and i compare it to elk. Cant speak on axis comparison since its been so long since i tried it.

I’d just give them a call. Email may not be their strength.

They told me that they are not taking any more hinds right now. Does anyone know of another reliable source? I am going to try Windy Lou later this year, but I need some freezer meat. Any idea how much meat you get off a Red deer hind?
