Scimitar-horned, East African, Arabian or Gemsbok?

Probably not what you are considering, but flying to Namibia and taking two gemsbok would be cheaper than a nice hunt here.

I have a few that are 40” plus. The last two that we shot were 42x42 and 42x40

Mike just shot a cull. It measured 37” in the one horn it had. Below is one of the herds from today. See what you think. If interested let me know.

Just curious but, horn broken off or what? Also, was Mike’s a cow?

Can't bring the meat back from Namibia, though! smile

Namibia is on my bucket list, but when I go I want to hunt for at least 5-6 animals, even if they're considered culls. I just want the experience of hunting in Africa!

I've hunted and shot one of the Scimitar Oryx with LSTO and this is not an easy hunt. The animals are more spooky than whitetails. Congrats to Mike on a nice animal.

Drawing a tag in NM is the trick, and then you get to pay the $1700+ NR license fee. If you draw off range public land the hunting can be really tough. I went with my buddy who drew that tag this past year. We saw 3 oryx in 3 days, and he killed one of them. Then you get to pack it out on your back because vehicles aren't allowed off road in NM.

Check out the Bar JP Tequesquite Ranch, I've been there 4 times over the past 3 years and it's an AWESOME ranch with possibly the largest Oryx herd in the world. Also great Addax too. Great accommodations and staff too.
