Pretty much the same to me. Those 2 are close enough related they will cross breed

we ate red deer in New zealand last April; was great, haven't eaten elk recently to compare to.

Just Kidding. I have killed a few elk, and one red, and I honestly could not tell the difference. Its not as good a Oryx "but IMHO nothing is", but pretty darn tasty.
