How common is it for an old ram with bases that nearly touch to not measure out to the subjective 30 inch trophy benchmark?

We shot one the other day real old that went 28.5, real heavy just didnt have the length, he was scarred up and old probably 8-10 yrs old.

Some deer will never have 10 points. Some axis will never make it past 30". Some humans will be over 6' tall and some won't. Aoudad are just like any other animal. You have some that get very large and some that do not.
