Monster Aoudad Hunts

Monster Aoudad Hunts - 10/18/14 11:52 AM

Deep Creek Ranch has 4 aoudad hunts remaining for 2014-2015; these aoudad are from a breeding herd established on 2600 acre Deep Creek over 20 years ago--come expecting a hunt! Last year our average aoudad killed was just over 33", and as is evident from the photos these aoudad have great mass and giant bodies.
Hunts are conducted out of blinds or stalking through one of the many canyons on the ranch.
Head to our website for more photos and a complete price list.

Re: Monster Aoudad Hunts - 11/22/14 12:48 PM

Curious, how old do you estimate a aoudad 30 or more inches is? Do these animals have access to protein?

Re: Monster Aoudad Hunts - 12/02/14 01:04 PM

Joe- we don't feed protein except during exceptionally dry periods. As far as estimating age based on horn length; I have always felt that our aoudad get to 26" fairly quickly (3-4 yrs.) then horn growth, particularly length, slows dramatically; to the point that it is only 1"/year when you get to the 30" mark. Based on these numbers a 30" ram would be 7-8 years old. Because of the size of Deep Creek, the elusive nature of aoudad, and the uniformity of aoudad (tough to pic out and study individuals year to year) these numbers are really more of a feeling than hard fact.
I am curious of some others opinions on this question; anyone that has raised them where they kept a close eye on one individual ram would have a better idea of horn growth rate.

Recently got a photo of the big ram group:

Re: Monster Aoudad Hunts - 12/03/14 06:13 AM

Let me know when you get the Bow Hunting thing worked out. I'm interested in a good Auodad with my bow, without having to climb mountains. I'm too old and fat for that.
