Other than zoos.....there are VERY few of them in the U.S.

One of the landowners I represent had a few of them at one time....but they really aren't worth the trouble. They are virtually impossible to keep inside a normal game fence (they burrow underground).

The only two I've personally hear of being sold in Texas (as breeders) went for $8,500 and $12,000 respectively. I have not heard of any being hunted in the state.

Yes, but I'm not familiar with any ranches who hunt them.

There are some around as novelties. You could go to Africa and shoot 20 of them for the same price as a live one here though.

I was offered to buy a couple of yearlings a few years ago for 12500 a piece.

When we visit my wifes family I always see warthogs, specially around the diner table.

Yeah. I went to Africa 2 years ago and shot 3. They are hands down my favorite animal over there. Very cool little critters and cheap to hunt while your there.

I had a rifle malfunction and didn't get one in Namibia. Saw 3 nice shooters, but was always hunting something else until the final day.

Germans are huge on them, quite a few PH's cater to that by doing warthog only safaris for $2000-3000.

I have a friend who is trying to get a breeding pair of them. Will let you know if and when he gets them.

That's all we need is a warthog population in Texas. I saw them all over the Kruger area.
