The OFFICIAL THF Group hunt at 3 Fingers Bowhunting Live thread

Tommorrow we will be just a week away from the first THF group hunt at Three Fingers Bowhunting. I hope this is the first of many group hunts. I am starting this thread so those of us that ate going will have a place to upload pics and videos throught and after the hunt. Hopefully it will be pic abd video heavy.

I can guarantee a bunch of pictures and hopefully a cool video from me.

I downloaded a couple of apps for my iphone that are supposed to let me post videos. Hopefully I can figureout how to post them.

Countdown to the hunt has begun. Unfortunately this 4 day work week for me is going to drag slowly by.

Whew! Came awful close to having to cancel on this hunt yesterday...got it worked out, tho.

That would have sucked to have to miss this hunt.

Yep, and would-a caused others to have to make other plans for lodging. I was gonna feel awful if I had to cancel.

Hell we woulda made it. Theres a hotel not too far away. Glad you got it worked out tho. My 5 year old daughter is just dying to hear you play the guitar and sing.

Alright, back from the family trip and having to get packed, more ice and the camper reset for the trip in the next 24 hours. Hope this works out well.

Trailer is prepped, bow is ON to 30 yds., directions printed, clothes packed, and I've STILL got that feeling that I'm forgetting sumpin'...I hate that feeling

Pretty much everything is ready. Shot my longbow with my broad heads today. Got jalepino cheese summer sausage to munch on. Got my Elite GTO packed up just in case. Cooking some wild hog as I type this. Gonna bring some of it with me. I am in need of a female red deer to finish my pedestal mount with my stag. Gonna be a sleepless night

Everything with horns is still growing their horns except the rams and blackbuck. I am out of meat so just does and hogs for me.

Got the hog cooked and it is good if I do say so myself. Got the video camera charged up but gotta get batteries for the wireless mic

Any of ya'll get any sleep last night? I must've shot a hundred exotics and hogs in my dreams. (All perfect shots, of course:) Then, starting at about 3:30, I kept startling awake thinking, "Time to go!"

Been here for a few hours now and already having a blast. Stuck a few arrows in some 3d targets and kicked back in the shade relaxing. There is no place on earth I would rather be than right here right now!!

Sitting in a tree fallow doe at 10 yards broadside. Looking for a red deer though

Everyones in their blinds now. Animals are moving. We have seen sika deer, fallow deer, red stags, and rams. You guys that didnt come on this hunt are missing out big time!!!!!!

Only one pig stuck and it was a high shoulder shot and we didn't find it.

We had a yearling spotted fallow doe come up. One of the prettiest fallow I have ever seen and my 5 year old got majorly pissed cause neither me or my dad would shoot it. I do believe my hunting princess is turning into a monster lol.

First morning hunt after a good nights sleep. Ryan cooked some awesome fish, fries, and hushpuppies for us last night. I am sitting here watching it get daylight with my 5 year old daughter sitting in my lap. I could die a happy man right now!

Say what you want to about Rage broadheads. But I made a bad shot this mornin on a 75 lb hog and he still only ran about 40 yards and piled up. My 5 year old followed the blood trail and found the hog.

congrats! what poundage are you running? I have been told not to use a Rage until 70 lbs, but my current Carbon Matrix limbs max at 62.

We are all out for the evening hunt. My wife came down and picked up my daughter and left my stepson with me. We are having a blast. Its like a family reunion where everyone gets along.

The Hoyt Maxxis 31 has been a killing machine today. Shot 4 times. 3 dead hogs and a dead squirrel. Down to 3 arrows left for the morning hunt. Rage broadheads on everything. Nothing ran over 40 yards.

First one is good ol J.R. He had a extremely successful weekend connecting with great shots on a great chocolate fallow doe (unfortunately we had to get her peeled down and in a cooler quick) and a 200+ lb boar hog.

My dad let a few fallow doe go and he and I put a spot and stalk on a huge very pretty Sika doe but he ended up grazing the bottom of her chest @ 33 yards with his crossbow. Was still fun putting the sneak on them with my dad.

Speaking for me and my family we had a great time once again. I wont speak for anyone else but if they didnt have a great time its news to me. More pics and stories to follow but right now those were all that were on my phone.

With my limbs bottomed out I am drawing 73 lbs shooting a 480 grain arrow getting right at 90 lbs of KE

I sure had a great time! The guys gave me some grief about passing on the chocolate fallow and some smaller hogs Friday night, but I was winded the whole time and you know the rule about shooting an arrow at an alert animal... Fortunately for me, there was a 10' ladder stand West of the feeders that I sat Saturday morning, putting me side-wind to the feeders.

Before sunrise, had smaller hogs on me literally before the guide's tail lights were gone, so the ribbing I took the night before was running through my head. A few torturous minutes later, and the bug boys showed. Got drawn and touched off the flashlight taped to my stabilizer with my pinkie and double-lung-ed the big guy.

A while later, I'm covered up in whitetails and a hind's doe at about 45 yds. As I am waiting on the hind's to come a tad closer, the chocolate fallow arrives lieterally right between my boots hanging from the ladder stand. Had to wait about 10 minutes for her to give me a shot, but finally got the chance to run a Rage completely through her and got the pump in the process...she was gushing both sides immediately. She took 4 steps and DRT.

The guys worked their backsides off to make it a great hunt & I'll def. be back. Thanks guys for all your hard work!!!

Me and my family were glad to spend the weekend hunting with you. You dont find many folks that get that excited about shooting hogs. I will be cleaning my ears out for weeks! LMAO!!!! Morgan still wants to hear your rendition of Poker Face........

I had a blast this weekend. It was a pleasure to meet and share a camp with everyone. I will post my write up and some pictures in a little while.

I headed down to Fairfield Friday at noon for a weekend of traditional bowhunting with some old friends and some new friends. I got there at 3:30 thanks to some serious traffic due to a wreck in Dallas. I got the Sarrels Sierra out and did a little pre hunt shooting. I was hitting where I wanted to with good groups out to 25 yards. The rest of the crew showed up and we all picked our stands. We headed out and I was in my stand around 5:30. I wasn't there long and I had a fallow doe and a couple whitetail doe at the feeder. It wasn't long before 8 more whitetail doe came in. I was siting there watching them eat when they all of a sudden took off. Just a couple seconds later a group of 10 pigs came running in. I sat and watched them waiting for a clear shot at a spotted pig that weighed around 30 pounds. After several minutes I finally got the shot I wanted. I raised my bow and came to full draw, I relaxed my fingers and my arrow flew just over top of the pig. They all took off and I sat there a little hot at myself for missing. I got down and got my arrow then climbed back up in the stand. The feeder went off and it wasn't long before all the whitetail doe came back. I watched them for awhile and then they all took off again. Shortly about a 130 pound boar came in and started eating. He turned broadside and again I came to full draw. I aimed a little low and relaxed my fingers. The arrow passed just under him and if the broadhead didnt cut him it didn't miss much. I was seriously dejected at that point having missed 2 straight shots at hogs. Ben came and picked everybody up and we headed back to camp. When we got there Ryan had fried fish, hush puppies, and fries ready to eat. Bed time came at midnight with the alarm set for 4:00 am. I was giving the thought to leaving the longbow at camp and taking the GTO for the morning hunt. After a little pep talk from some of fellow traditional folks I decided to stick with the Sierra. We got up at 4:00 got everybody lined out on where we were all hunting. I went back to the same stand I hunted the night before. Well before daylight the same group of little pigs came in and milled around. I never got a clear shot at the spotted pig I wanted and they left shortly before the feeder went off. After the feeder went off a few whitetail doe came in followed by Larry the short bus red stag. Larry is a red stag that has some issues. His horns are messed up and he just doesn't seem right. He was eating at the protien feeder and a squirrel showed up under the corn feeder. I shot at the squirrel and he jumped the string but at least my shot placement was good. I got down to get my arrow and Larry decided to come check me out. He walked right up to me so I scratched him on his head. After a little scratching Larry went back to the protein feeder. I got my arrow and climbed back in the stand. I wasn't there long when a female red deer snuck up behind the protein feeder. She was seriously skiddish and took her time getting in the open. She finally gave me a clear shot and I came to full draw. I relaxed my fingers and the arrow was in the air. Just as I shot she turned slightly and the arrow hit her in the front of the shoulder. It went through and cut her jugular and hit the ground on the other side. She was spewing blood when she took off across the pasture. I sent a text to Ryan letting him know I had a deer bleeding. I sat there for 45 minutes waiting on Ben to come get me. I Finally heard the truck coming so I climbed down and started following blood. I followed the blood across the open and just into the tree line where I found my red deer laying. I cannot explain how I felt right then. I was shaking all over trying to text everybody to tell them I had found her. Ben got there and helped me drag her out of the brush. We got her loaded up and headed back to camp. Pictures were taken of me and my deer plus a couple of the others in the group that had stuck hogs. the evening hunt that evening and the morning hunt this morning was pretty much uneventful. We got back to camp this morning and there was a big red boar behind a feeder about 250 yards from camp. I grabbed my Sierra and headed that way. I got a tree between me and the hog and worked my way toward the hog. Once I was about 60 yards from the hog I didnt have the tree for cover. I just moved real slow step by step inch by inch forward. I finally got within 20 yards but had to move to my right to get a clear shot. Everybody was watching from camp so the pressure was on to make the shot. I drew and let the arrow fly. The shot was a little high and the boar ran a circle. I nocked another arrow and shot again with the boar angled away from me. The arrow hit him in the middle of the rib cage and went in toward the lungs and heart. The boar took off and I watched him till he went out of sight. We finally found him and he was laying down but still alive. I put a bullet in him to finish him and we loaded him in the truck and that ended an amazing weekend and one hunt I will never forget as long as I live.

Larry the short bus red stag is the ranch pet. The rest of the animals on the other hand are pretty skiddish. This aint a canned hunt you gotta hunt to get what you are after. And besides that HSUS can bite my butt

Congrats, looks like you had a great weekend, I remember ole' Lair Bear. He pretty much did the same thing to us one night while loading up a hog.

I am headed down to three fingers in sept for sika deer blackkbuck and maybe a ram as well. I will be hunting for bucks only. Ben is going to allow me to hunt three days because of the number of animals. Do u guys think I should be able to get one of each in three days. I will be bowhunting.

He has some absolute monster Texas Dall rams, he has a respectable Jacobs four horn and quite a few really nice Corsicans and a couple of Black Hawaiians. He also has some nice Aoudads.
