Chicken Killin' Dogs

Chicken Killin' Dogs - 11/04/21 12:27 AM

Got me some Chicken Killin' Dogs. Got them on my game camera. One is BIG, and in really good shape. Probably from eating my chickens.

So, is it best to trap them? Snare them? Big Fish Hook with bait and a steel leader?

I can't shoot them where I live.

Treble hook in chicken works well, but they will make a hell of a cry while dying.

Kevin has the right idea here. Or perhaps get a couple of bigger dogs to work for you.

In the past “this guy I know” used an air rifle on unwanted critters. Of course, distance of the shot might be a problem, depending on the air rifle quality.

if you don't have other dogs or little ones running around, and have a fenced yard , I say set a couple of foot hold traps. You can then dispatch quietly.
If you need help, pm me. I'm off hunting tonight through Monday night, but will be back Tuesday.

Coil spring traps and finish with an axe.

My Buckmark with the CCI quiet loads sounds like a soft hand-clap. You have to manually cycle it, but one to the dome should do the trick. It's not much louder with regular velocity CCI and it will cycle those.

Set up two Bridger #2 traps. *** Acme.

Caught a BIG skunk last night. *So it works.

Now onto Wylie coyote. (not the city).

THANKS!

Never ceases to amaze me how much people underestimate modern air rifles. I can list half a dozen, some under a couple hundred bucks that will dispatch that yote efficiently with the neighbors being never the wiser!

Please PM me with the list of the half dozen air rifles that are quiet enough and efficient enough to do the deed!

I am partial to AirForce Airguns, but any “shrouded” 25 caliber will do the job. PCP stands for Pre Charged Pneumatic, basically the air source is high pressure at 3000 to 4500 Psi. The AirForce Escape SS has small reservoir that can be filled with a hand pump. It’s report is similar to a CB cap but muffled. These are not backyard friendly but will take out a pesky yoke no problem and not wake the neighbors. Remember SSS!
