I usually hang out with the hogslayers, but the pigs have been giving me the slip. Last night had 3 coyotes way out in the pasture as I was leaving. Back getting stood up by the hogs tonight so I checked the pasture as I drove out. Saw a set of eyes, gave a good back-of-the-hand squeak, and he was hooked. Probably 250 yards but with my green light I had a set of eyes watching me. My car was next to me. Steadied on a fence post and trying to hit the handheld light and i was about on when i saw another set of eyes. From my left a coyote was coming on a wire and unbothered by my light. Finally stopped about 15 yards and it took me awhile to line up my light and my scope and find my target. Dog held still and never looked my way (looking towards my car to my right). Quartering to me, entrance wound somewhere, exit wounds obvious. Tikka .308 at about 15 yards.
