Another Wyoming cat - 01/23/20 02:34 PM
Back in Sept we had the trail cam out looking at the deer and elk using the meadows, noticed one shot of a mt lion in the far meadows .
Well this fall we noticed not near as many deer hanging out in the meadows, almost none really, chalked that up to our activities.
This winter a nice sized set of tracks started appearing along the creek and thought the horse pasture, the big cat was still around.
The tracks go pretty much all over the meadows and along the creek, a fresh set after each snow.
Needless to say a mt lion tag was purchased.
Yesterday morning we caught up to the big cat, jumped a nice sized female we're pretty sure was on a kill . She was so full she couldn't get away fast enough.
One shot from the mini 14, .223 and she was down. The last stop for a look was her demise.
While not huge she weighed in at 108 lbs live weight. Full stomach and no kittens in the reproductive tract. Fat as can be.
Beautiful cat but she was doing a number on the deer and checking out the horses.
She makes number 10 taken from this cat area, 12 is the quota. Most are taken by houndsmen but some by folks like us, just lucky for once.
Skinned her out and she will become a nice rug, we have 2 already .
Now we'll be bating, this spring, for the black bear we also got a trail cam pic of.
