With calves dropping, coyotes mobile finding the afterbirth I understand. What do you do different to target those dogs? Will they respond to calls or do they ignore as the afterbirth is easy low hanging fruit? Should I do anything different during calving season? Any recommendations? Kids have spring break soon and we want to spend some time eliminating predators.

Unless your out there all the time while they're birthing it's almost impossible. Get a donkey or a dog to keep with the herd. Momma cow will usually run anything off if she can.

A friend of mine would put a downed cow or some other recent kill remains in the middle of a hay bale ring in the center of an open bottom - then we'd sit out all weekend up the fence line and pop coyotes from 300 yds with .243's Hang em on the fence for others to collect if the county was buying ears.
