may need help near austin..

got some coyotes on my 15 acres outside of austin, brush is really thick and im having a hard time killing them, i took a few shots at one this morning at 30 yards and hit nothing, i called it in with a cheap plastic mouth call, was a pretty big coyote..any experienced varmint hunters near austin looking for somewhere to hunt? pretty sure my cat got eatin a few nights ago and im done sharing property with them..

Snares work 24-7 if your place is conducive for it.

how would i go about that without harming anything else?

If you have a property fence, that is where you would use them. Where ever coyotes prefer to go through a fence is what you need to find. I always make a spot for them to cross, by either digging a spot under the bottom wire, or raise the bottom wire enough to clear 9". Set low like this is preferred by them, rather than going between barbed wire, they will use the easiest route generally. Also removes the chance of a non target like deer, from getting in the snare.

Walk you're fence line and look for crossings, mostly look for yote hair and on occasion, you will find tracks, Look 24" and under.

One thing to note, dogs will also get in a snare, so if you let yours run loose, or neighbors, snare doesn't discriminate.

There are many tips and tricks to using snares on coyotes, best way to learn is having someone take you out. Also, iirc still, the law requires you to check the snares every 36 hrs. Done correctly, you cn eliminate nearly every coyote that crosses your properrty regularly.
