I have seen a lot of nice pigs on here taken at night. You guys have some GREAT gear! Does anyone have any good tips for hunting at night with out Thermal or NV ? That is just more of a bite than I can chew.
I've done night hog hunting a number of different ways. Stalking, driving, blind hunting, and even sitting in the middle of a field listening for noise.
A lot of the time we find ourselves driving the Hummer along the fence at night where the crops are. We've always come up upon a few hogs running the fence, likely spooked by us on the other side of the field. We just use a spotlight and the brights. If it's just two of us one jumps out and takes care of business.
The rest of the time at night I'll usually find a likely crossing for food or water and have a dim green/red feeder light at a distance so I can see the silhouettes pass by. That or a rifle mounted scope with a low setting.
Feeder hunting with lights usually works well.
Just some of what I've been experimenting with and having success with.
