I need a pro coyote hunter

I need a pro coyote hunter - 10/21/14 03:52 PM

I have some land north of Frisco but i have so many coyotes i think they are destroying the deer population. once deer season is over i would like to grant one maybe 2 people access in an attempt to rid myself of some of the coyotes. The land is a lease and has cows. if you are interested in helping me send me a message and i will contact you once the season is over. This is an opportunity to hunt and not to get paid. Until i have developed trust in a hunter i will have to be on the lease when they are.

Start a gut pile with deer guts you harvest this season, this will bring them to a particular location.
Try to setup the gut pile in an area that they have to cross open area to get to the gut pile.
Make sure that if someone shoots at them they hit what they are aiming at because it makes it harder to get them when they are educated. Only the ones that get away get the education laugh Don't try calling them anymore if they have not responded with your calls, it makes calling them in harder.

You wont even knock a dent in them by hunting..

What you need is a competent trapper to come in a trap for a few weeks...

While they are at it they can not only knock a big dent in the local coyote population but also do the same for the coons that are eating up your corn..

I know a good trapper if you are interested...

With thermal you can knock a pretty big dent in the population.

Need to trap it not hunt. Have someone come in and do work for a week or so if you really want to manage it.

Thanks for the advice. I worry about trapping because of the cows and the neighbors dogs. I do not have money to pay a trapper but if one would like to come out i would accommodate them as well as i can.

Trapping wont harm the cattle , matter of fact cows can bend traps up pretty badly. It's all about location and how you place your sets, but the cows would be safe and not a issue.

Catching nto's happens but it is easy enough to use a catch pole and release them unharmed so they can run back home.

I'll shoot you a pm with some information..

Let the neighbors know you are going to be trapping and to put up their dogs. Neighbors dogs shouldn't be allowed on the lease anyway. I'm surprised the owner/rancher allows it with cattle involved. A pack of "pets" running a lease can be more detrimental than yotes, to cattle and deer.

I agree if you really want to hurt their numbers trapping is best. Easy enough to learn and I find it fun/rewarding. Best way to learn is invite an experienced guy out to show you. I'd sew up every crossing with leg holds and snares. If you can't get a handle on the dog situation don't use snares, proper leg holds can be used that won't cause lasting damage.

trapping is the way to go, not to mention, you can put a huge dent in the coons while the trapper is there. i'd run conibear on covey sets if you have that many yotes in the area. this will give you the chance to hit all 3 packs at once. then, once you figure out their routes, you can set the trails with conibears and roads with double coil springs. you may even pick up a bobcat as well. i would be willing, but it would take a couple trips to get the lay of the land. i'd be more than happy to come up and gang set your feeders for coons though.

as for the dogs, you need to rid those too. if the neighbors are that ignorant as to let their dogs run like that, they'll just disappear…the coyotes will kill and eat them as well.

Traps, they work 24/7, rain or shine. If coyotes are as thick as you believe, two can sound like twenty, ask the rancher to put in some money for professional help. He is making money off the lease, ask him to invest in his back yard.
