Cool vid!

If the owner isn't careful, Gunner will have his name changed to Gunned.

No kidding! Gunner is no longer allowed out of his run when we are hog hunting. He has been relegated to a bird hunter only.

Re: 4 Hogs and a 409 Yard Thermal Kill Shot - 09/10/14 06:15 AM

Tyler @409 yards my 6PDK [6mmx6.8SPC] launching a 100 gr Speer GS a 2,650 fps calls for 6.3MOA

or 6.3 x 1.047 x 4.09 = 26.9" holdover

looks like the last shot was higher..indeed a Hail Mary.

Ok Tyler running the numbers here:

180 gr Remington P-P, R25 .308WIn, 20" Barrel

guessing 2,500 fps

409 yards @ 50 ft. elevation

9.5MOA x 1.047 x 4.09 = 40.68" or 3.39 ft.

Not bad.... heckuva shot..HELL yeah!

On a stationary target....factor in the fact that that hog was moving..OH yeah, enter lead calculations!

I once killed a monkey in Vietnam at just over 300 yards with a M79 grenade launcher.

This was better!

Well Done !!

If somebody shot that close to my dog, they've never be allowed back on my place.

I would agree, except for the fact that gunner is not a hog dog. He had no protection. The video is entertaining but that hog could have ripped him open and killed him and I would have always wondered if he could have been saved. At 10 yards with a rifle, the confidence was obviously there to take the shot. It's a tough situation, but I'm not a "do nothing" type. Not saying you or anyone is. Lesson learned on keeping him kenneled when night hunting.
