Clean your own pigs?

I talked to a landowner last night who says he charges guys 150$ for a hog hunt and its no limit and no size restrictions. Just mow down as many pigs as you can find. He stated he does not clean any pigs and the client can either haul em out, clean em on the spot, or let em lie. He stated he does not want to handle the pigs he just wants em gone. Yall think this is a good deal? For 150 i think its a bargain but I wanna know if you guys dont like the clean your own pig part. I got alot of pigs on my land and Im contemplating doing the same.

It sort of depends on how much land you have and whether or not you actually have hogs, but $150 sounds reason under those conditions.

I am not sure he wants the hogs gone all that much, but the fee sound fine. There are folks charging a lot more with limits.

So how many acres do you have and where?

I have 400 acres. 200 of it is literally a swamp that we duck hunt out of. The reason we have so many hogs is my swamp butts up againt a 1100 acre corn field. So they hang out on my land and then go into the corn at night. here are some pics of the hogs weve had throughout the year

I wouldn't mind cleaning the hogs. I think 150 is a great deal for no limit.

I'd pay you 150 for a duck hunt! Love getting ducks but my deer lease doesn't have any. There is a small water tank though, was thinking about throwing some decoys in and seeing what happens.

I'd think its relatively standard....that on a hunt you are responsible for cleaning your own game unless its otherwise specified that you won't have to. more often than not...I'd think this is the case.

I'd be careful about telling folks they can just "leave them lay" anywhere. I understand you probably need to kill more of them than folks would care to eat. but if you tell people they can leave them "anywhere"...they will do just that. probably will end up with some stinking carcasses in irritating places.

we don't butcher all the hogs we kill, but we do pick them all up out of the hunting area and have a graveyard area where we dump them off.

I would be more than happy with the price and I can guarantee I would take all harvested animals with me. Is there a place to camp or lodging?

Good price, especially if it is close to home.
We keep little ones for dinner.
The big ones, we find an out of the way spot and slice them open. It makes the clean up faster for the buzzards. Around here they will finish a 200 pounder in half a day.

I hunt regularly with a friend who on occasion takes people hunting for $150 a night. After seeing this and others peoples price he might raise his price some. He does a "Safari style" type hunt. Basically he drives around scanning fields with night vision until he finds pigs. Gets you as close as he can. You can shoot from the high rack or get on foot to shoot. After the kill he'll gut the pig(s) if you like or just take out the back-straps for you, your choice. There's no limit and no kill fees. Now if the pigs are simply too shot up, smell too bad or you don't want them he'll take them to a dead area out of the fields for the buzzards to eat. The hunt goes more or less from dusk to dawn, maybe later. This is all free range hunting. So there is no guarantee on a kill. I think he's doing a lot for $150 bucks. I think a lot of places charge you to clean and maybe even a kill fee if you kill a really big one. So for the OP $150 is reasonable price but there are better deals out there but not many.

I don't know, we'll spend 10-14 hours out hunting and use anywhere from $30-50 in gas. Plus $20-30 in snacks, drinks and ice. The hunters are responsible for bring there own snacks and drinks. Cooler with ice if they want any meat. So the two guides make about $3 an hour. That doesn't take into account the equipment, maintenance, tress pass/lease fee's, etc... When you start taking all that stuff into account it's real easy to see why hunts are so expensive.

it would depend on size of hog before gutting for tender loins, or heart, liver, ribs

Just wash them before you clean um.. and have a carpet hook to cut the skin... keeps a blade much longer when your not cutting through pig hair... other than that they are pretty easy

I hunt a place that is no limits, all night from a high stand (several) feeders run 24/7, never missed getting hogs for #100/night. They'll clean and quarter for $25/hog. I do my own.

My property is in cookspoint in between caldwell and bryan. We dont have a lodge but we can set you up on a primitive campsite in the cooler months. Ive got a couple more since ive last posted

depends on how long hes willing to let you hunt but id say its a good deal if hes really got that many porkers.
