Mounting Lights To Feeder Questions..

I'm thinking about some of the self-contained solar floodlights from Lowe's/Home Depot and have a few questions.

If anybody is using them, are you taking any precautions to guard them from coons crawling on them?

What would be a good starting height to mount them at to get an effective field of illumination? I ask because I don't know how powerful they are nor how much the field of light disperses.
