Massive heat wave is destroying our chances is seeing a significant quail recovery in west texas.
Pray that his heat wave lessens quickly and we get some rain.

The quail professor from A&M posted an article recently that it will be like this for the next decade, I sure don't like that prospect. Who knows, maybe Rollins' bunch will figure out the quail decline was eyeworms or whatever and it wasn't even all that related to the rain. Lots of quail in parts of Mexico where it rains less. Maybe we need to invite them on up!

Let them, and only them, through the wall.

The Gulf Prairies region at times does better on the dryer years.

Moisture needed to hatch eggs and too much heat bad for chicks.

One of my good hunting areas back in the day was the Goliad. Cuero, Karen's City area.

It's a shame that we can't get some timely rain after such a good start to spring.

I grew up hunting the area between Seguin, Gonzales, Karnes City, and Cuero. We had lots of quail and just about every rancher we knew would let you hunt their property. Limits a hour out of the truck were not uncommon.
Enough birds that walking 'em up without dogs was an option

moisture brings out the tiny insects that chicks need to survive, quail & pheasant.

Quail are going to need life rafts in some areas
