It was an interesting read...

After reading all of it, except the horny toad part, my take away is :
Rain at the right time = Quail
No rain, or too much at the wrong time = NO Quail
Hawks Eat Quail
Coyotes don't
Lots of quail have eye worms, but we cannot prove or disprove that eye worms make any difference in quail numbers.
Relocating quail it tough, but not just tossing them out on day-one helps a little
Aggressive management techniques for individual ranches helps, but not much.
Burning is good.
Unless you are going to irrigate, food plots are going to fail when you need them most.

The only two things I consider "New" info out of this is are 1] Coyotes are not significant factors in quail mortality, 2] Cute looking women seem to always be around when releasing quail.

Lets pray for rain this spring and early summer, but areas hurt the hardest have lost most\all of the breeding stock...its gonna take a couple of good weather years.

Lets keep up the habitat AND the research work. We need the efforts of both organizations to make a difference.
