I am a member of the quail coalition and I manage to make the banquet every year. I can attest that I have never seen a single black tie or tuxedo at any of them.
As to the ticket price, I was given a ticket this year, in years past it has been around $75 ahead of time, and $100 if purchased at the door.
Every one is fed a delicious game dinner, and of course there are the requisite girls circulating and selling tickets for prizes to be raffled off, and some fantastic hunting and fishing trips, bird dog puppies, etc. to be actioned off ...just like any other sportsmen's banquet.
It is my understanding that the bulk of the money raised (which is substantial) goes to fund LOCAL quail research projects (ie Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Institute's programs, etc. in our neck of the woods)
Unlike some other organizations...no one in administration gets a salary.
I always have a grand time visiting with old friends, the open bar
, and spending too much on raffle tickets...altho this year I walked out with about $500 worth of fly fishing equipment.
San Antonio's Chapter had their own banquet, as did every other chapter. As I said, the money raised is spent locally....check it out next year....You'll have a ball. It is worthwhile, and at least at the STQC banquet, altho you would be quite a spectacle in your black tie and tails, you would be most welcome.
