TPWD has requested support from members of various quail organizations to fill out a Quail Hunting Report detailing . their season. A survey of this type has never been done before, and officals say it may be more accurate than the established method by which TPWD has estimated hunters and harvest.
For the 2011 - 12 season, TPWD estimated 39,000 hunters and 258,000 quail harvested. During the 1992 - 93 season ab estimated 220,000 hunters bagged an estimated 5.5 million birds.
