Odd Bird

I'd expect an eclipse drake in early Sep in Alberta, but not in TX after Turkey Day. I assume he was from a late local hatch? Long lost pet?

Rosie had a great find on him, too. They mallards came in together and I thought it was a hen. The "they/them" mallard got peppered flying too close to the greenhead, flew 150 yards, and dropped over a hill in thick knee high broom weed. She got on him quick.

If I knew about this breed when I got my lab Tara 5 years ago, I probably would got one, because it does not shed and a good dove/duck dog.

LC has the long/soft haired pudelpointer, Smokey Bear has the short/wiry haired pudelpointer. This will probably be my next dog, if I’m still alive and hunting.
