Shot my first Public Land limit Sunday night

I'm just a novice shotgunner so I miss a lot more than I hit. Sunday afternoon was frustrating as can be, I'm missing even easy shots and there are plenty of doves. So, I pointed ip on a dead weed about 30 to 40 yards and watched where the pattern went. ALL LOW. So I readjusted my cheek hold and I was rolling doves without even thinking about it. These are only 10 and that includes one white-wing. 5 were shot on the morning hunt and were already cleaned and in the cooler. Glad my better half was there to help me share the day.

Outstanding, especially public. Dove hunting public in Texas is not good based on my experience, at least around Dallas.

Thanks Guy, this was south of San Antonio. Wife was at the truck and she said they were coming past the truck like dove bombers. I was around the back of the trees you see in the background and not near as many birds there, but i still got my limit.

Yes! to me it was everything. This was my first dove limit anywhere, but I did it on public land was icing on the cake. I wasn't even trying for that either, I just got fed up with missing. I got a ton of legwork in those peas fields, so I worked for it.

I think you need to get back out there and kill the rest of them dove.
