Dove Shotgun Load

Is it just me or are shotgun shells for dove super expensive this year and can’t be found anywhere? Does anyone have any idea where to find some reasonably priced shells? I know with the pandemic there are some supply shortages but does anyone have any idea when they’re going to get worked out? Just got a dog for dove and duck and now I’m worried I’m not going to be able to find enough shells to get him out to hunt.

I’ve picked up a couple of cases at Cabelas for $85 a case, so not terrible. The FW store had a bunch of boxes yesterday.

I think just finding shells is the issue --- I wouldn't hold out for ""reasonably priced shells.""

I hit the Academy in Temple last Saturday and they had about 50 cases of 12 ga and maybe 25 or so of 20 ga. Also had plenty of bulk 5.56 stuff.

Walmart has had 12's and 20's for 5.94 box off and on. I've been able to pick up what I need getting some each time I go. The store in Crossroads had probably 30 boxes of 12's ounce and 1/8 this past weekend.

Walmart is still selling at "normal" prices when they have them. 12 ga and 20 ga are running $22-$24 a brick (4 boxes). Federal and Winchester.

I have plenty of ammo, but when this Sh#t is over I'll never be close to being short.

yesterday evening I stopped by WM on my way home to pick up something my wife needed and they had probably 50 bricks of 22LR (325 & 525 count bricks) and both were selling for $.05 per round. I didn't need or buy any but they are selling all of their ammo at fair prices.

Did you notice if they had RIO HEavy dove loads?

Academy off of Parker in Plano had a ton of shotgun ammo yesterday - Monarchs, Rio, Remington, Winchester.

The RIO factory closed down during COVID and never re opened. Words from one of their customers. RIP RIO

Got lucky at my local Academy this a.m. was able to pick up a flat of these AA loads…turns out, they recently got their pre-dove season shipment…

Went back to see if there were any left and got lucky…snagged the last flat of 20 gauge AA’s on the shelf…life is good…!

Easier to find than the rifle ammo 300 has been out for months

Been getting the Super X at WM recently. $6.87 a box.

I'm reloading 12 ga. 7/8 oz. 1300 fps for about $4.50 a box using reclaimed lead right now.

Think I'll use those.

Scored 7 boxes of Winchester Super X 20ga. 7/8 oz. #7 1/2 today. Bought all they had on the shelf.
Went to Cabelas at Buda yesterday, no 20 gauge bird shot.

I load my own but componants are scarce, bought a 25# bag of #8 shot for $48. Last bag I bought was $22. It was several years ago but not that damn long ago

20 gauge is hard to find but plenty of 12 and 28 gauges at our Academy in Humble, TX

I was in Walmart today and a buddy called asking if I would sell him 3 boxes of 12ga. Told him I would pick up some boxes for him. They had quite a bit of 12-20-28ga. Cheapest was federal about 5.50 a box

Everytime you go to the store pick up a couple boxes

Academy in S Arlington had plenty of 12 & 20 cases. Also had shelves full of 556 & 308.
