Ever since they went to their stupid lotto system, it's go to complete crap. Sure, a true lottery system gives everyone an equal chance. But when you drive 2 plus hours, get there early enough to get a good spot in line, only to be drawn last or dang near last....every time..... nah it ain't worth it. There are about 20-25 spots that will produce good birds when the water conditions are right. If you get drawn past mid way through, your chances on having a fun and successful hunt go way down. You might get lucky and get a spot other folks have overlooked, but I've hunted all over that place for 20 years and I know where to avoid. Had some of the best hunts of my life out there, now, I won't go back. Nothing like getting stuck with a crap spot, make a death march out to the spot only to find no water or cover anywhere near, and don't even fire a shot. Some will say, "well, that's hunting" or "if you don't like it go get on a lease". Public has always been a first come system, it needs to stay that way.

I've been a couple times this year, once for teal and the other was last week. I was #15 and got picked at number 20 and the first person picked was #41 so it is really a lottery. They also have part of it closed also doesn't help your odds.

I'm glad these places are going to this style system. I would rather have it set up where you have a chance at least to get a good spot if you can't spend the day before sitting in your truck.

I'm down in Bay City, we hunt this area. I have never hunted up your direction but you aren't far off.
