supposed to rain after sunset opening day. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Re: opening day dove weather - 08/29/20 05:13 PM

I'll take 90 on opening day!!! Then 86 for a high the next day!!!

Chance of rain, but less than 1/2" in forecast. We are hunting sunflower fields, so the rain does not worry me much.

Eliasville is close to my lease in Young county. One opening day weather forcast it drops to 89 with 60% thunderstorms. We have a lot of resident dove, but It never fails on our place if there is a front the day or night before, the resident dove blow out before morning. I hope I am wrong.

Doves are flying everywhere over my backyard just now.

Hope ya'll can get a decent shoot in Tuesday, at least get your truck stuck bolt

Well the rain missed my property today so far. It's staying just north of my place. Praying it stays up there tonight and tomorrow.

Re: opening day dove weather - 08/31/20 08:28 PM

Took the day off tomorrow but the forecast looks pretty rough. Drove around yesterday to find standing water in numerous fields and none that could be driven. Going to make the final call in the morning but looking like I will save my day of PTO and try it when it dries out a bit.

Rained out yesterday afternoon and this morning. About 3" so far, but it was very dry out here, I expect it to soak up pretty fast.

Was already wet yesterday morning and 3” of rain is not going to get soaked up in time for hunting until maybe Saturday [Linked Image]

We 2-3 inches Monday late afternoon and Tuesday morning the field while wet was drivable as the fields just soaked it up. But then the rain came in 8 am so some guys fell short of their limit. Fortunately I had mine by 7:30.
Our sunflowers did better than expected! We had lots of birds.
