Following as well. I have been looking on here and Facebook. I am trying to decide if Going North or West of the DFW would be best.

I saw a post this morning from. Hanson outdoors has openings. $75 per person. I hunted with them last year and shot my limit by 9ish.

What the closest town where they hunt? Nevermind, just saw their FB page - Cooper. Thanks for the heads up.

I just had someone that leased from David Norman stop by my property and his map had my and my neighbor’s property on it. And neither one of us have given permission for anyone to hunt on our property..

Be careful!

Could you specify what field. I have been on this lease for several years
and have never had any issues. Have you called David? This obviously needs to be
fixed. Send me a PM on the field please.

Sent you a PM with the two fields. I'll try and call David today.

Update-- I called Dave at DJ Farms. I had a great conversation with David today. He looked up my property and realize he made an honest mistake. He has already updated his map to reflect the accurate properties that are available.

If I did not have my own place I would definitely lease from him. I know all the properties he has and they are very good fields for dove hunting.

Give him a call and be confident that you will be dealing with a stand up operation.

If I leased from someone who could not provide accurate field descriptions and directions I would not call him a stand up guy, Late in the pre-season an outfitter should have his s*** together and not make such a gross error. For clarity, I do not lease from him nor in his area. I did live in NE Texas for 23 years and NEVER encountered such gross negligence. I now live near Austin and out fitters and land owners are very clear and specific about the property they are leasing for dove hunting.

I'm not affiliated with DJFarms, but have hunted their farms in the past and consider hunting their ag fields an excellent value. They are great people and I'm sure made a simple mistake on one of their many field maps as described and have already provided updated info for current hunters. I would call that a minor error and their maps are probably 99.9% accurate. Anyone that wants to hunt with them can have confidence that they are an honest family operation providing an excellent service to the hunting community.

Was this on Howe or Leonard side? I got up early to scout and deliver some hay to bud in Farmersville. I could have slept in. The 4x4s and winches will be busy on Tuesday along with car wash. I have a feeling it will be a mess at fields that are accessible.

I’m on the Leonard side. It’s going to be a big mess on all the dirt roads as I can see standing water out there this morning

I am guessing you are off 3805 just north of Wolfe City. A high school buddy has property east of 34 just north of Wolfe City. He runs cattle out there. I use to hunt down by the cemetary quite often. 3805 from the cemetery west can get real nasty. It was a good thing i had a locker and ATRAC on my Tacoma on that road. Without it I would have been walking out. It will be interesting to see how many try 3740 on Tuesday.

Yes 3805 will be nasty today. Hope no one goes out there today as they will need a tractor to pull them out.

Re: Opening day dove - 08/30/20 08:09 PM

I was OK with a forecast that said a 1/4" midday, but now the forecast for our lease area is up to 1 1/2" - 2" of rain, spread through the entire day and night.

Its not gonna stop me from going, but it will put a damper of on things....It'd be a shame if all we did was sit in the trailer and drink beer all day lol444

I was out there. I stayed on the gravel. 4850 and 3800 until I ran out of gravel. Lots of cut milo south of Nevada and I saw 10x more geese then dove.

Re: Opening day dove - 08/31/20 06:44 PM

I have seen lots of geese also. They just cut the Milo last week so maybe that will bring the doves in. I'll let you know what I see tomorrow if I can get out there.
