Prepping for duck season

Prepping for duck season - 07/06/20 01:10 AM

I have been working every spare minute to get things ready for the upcoming season. I transformed what used to be a towed barge for materials to it's own power work machine. The trailer was also just a mess. It was rusted really bad and the bunks were all rotten. [Linked Image]

It is but it has to be done. The only time I regretted spending the money was the hot dip galvenize. It was 175 to sandblast it and 550 to acid dip and hot dip galvenize. I took it to a place off of Cunningham and west little york there in Houston. When I went to pick it up they were loading it with a fender that had been pulled off, probably with the fork lift. I looked at the rest of the job and it was simply crapola. The foreman came out and saw all the spots void of galvenize and areas that still had rust. Went back the next day, they welded the fender back on crooked and still hadnt fixed all the spots. 3rd time to get it, 120 mile round trip each trip, and still there were problems. The foreman says we can fix it, I said load this m.....f..... up now. I apologized in advance for what I had to say. It does look good but that was not the intent. I need it coated to keep it from rusting away. As we build the duck cabin I need my equipment to function. I am very blessed to have an incredible crew. It's only right my equipment is kept in top order. They are helping me because it's being built in duck country. Last year I dropped them off on a point we call La Punta. I went and parked the boat and took the ranger to the house. 25 minutes after daylight they called saying they were done come get them. The other hefty ordeal was the TRP lower unit locked up. Warning to those with TRPs, get your checkbook ready, if you ever have to buy a new one, Its going to hurt so bad your grandchildrens are going to feel it. But here it is in all her New glory.
