You should get that bird mounted.

I've heard contacting the number on that bird may get a very emotional response. Do it Ricky!

I shot one a few years ago. the band looks the exact same as the one I killed. I called my Taxi, told him what I had and he bust out laughing. When he got himself together and caught his breath he told me, "you just killed someone racing pigeon!" I looked it up and sure enough I had done just that.

this link might help you identify where the club is located. if this isn't it, you can just google pigeon racing bands and find out some info if interested. I was able to find the club that was based in a town about 45 minutes from me.... I did not contact the club roflmao

hope this helps. congrats BTW!

I called the guy yesterday prior to posting, yes it’s a racing pigeon, they weren’t upset. Bird was banded in Pasadena tx, released out west somewhere, and I killed it in cass county.

And guy, ain’t no way in hell I’d put money into it. Just happened to be walking back from a duck hunt and jumped a flock of em. The steel shot shell was expensive enough for it.

Did you breast it or pluck it?

that's awesome! the first pigeon i ever shot had three bands, my dad joked around with me enough that I got worried it was being tracked and tossed it. roflmao I do have an all white pigeon mounted, which is the number one animal I always wanted since I was a kid. that was a fun and long conversation with the taxidermist before he finally gave in and did it for me. banana

Put it on your duck lanyard and no one will know the difference. If they ask, tell them you shot it on your African Safari or tell them it was from a King Eider you shot up on the northern coast of Alaska in January during a blizzard when it was -47 degrees. You couldn't mount him because he face planted right into the ice and it was too messed up. And you couldn't get the truck started so had to walk back to the hut, which was 5 miles. Your compass was frozen so you had to guess on the direction.

Congratulations on an epic hunt. When are you going back? smile
