Options for unguided/semi-guided goose hunts

Options for unguided/semi-guided goose hunts - 11/16/19 09:33 PM

I'm interested in doing some hunts for specklebelly geese in rice fields, but most outfitters I've seen along the Gulf Coast offer expensive fully guided hunts. Can anyone recommend an outfitter who does unguided or semi-guided hunts, where hunters are responsible for bringing and setting up their own decoys (ideally, blinds would already be set up, but I have my own layout blind if necessary)? Basically what I'm looking for are "day hunt" options for geese at a lower price than the fully guided hunts.

I certainly haven't been able to find anything online, which surprises me, since plenty of places offer unguided "day hunts" for deer, hogs, dove, and even turkey. The closest thing to unguided day hunts for waterfowl I've seen are some outfitters on the coast who drop you off at a blind and pick you up several hours later in the morning. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything along similar lines for rice field geese.

I believe you can day lease blinds in rice fields up in Arkansas.

Thanks for the information, I may have to do a trip out there since there doesn't seem to be anything of the sort in Texas.
