First field hunt - 09/27/19 05:05 PM
The best part about spending half the year in Wyoming is the extra month of waterfowl season I get before coming back to Texas. The field behind my house has been holding about 800 geese in it for the past 2-3 months and yesterday we were finally able to track down the farmer and get permission. I decided to take an afternoon off from elk hunting and get on these geese. They’ve been showing up like clockwork to this field every morning and every afternoon at about 5:00 before heading to roost on the river. We were set up at 4:30 and we had our 3 man limit by 5. We got to watch several hundred more geese land in the field and we waited them out till they left for water at dark. I’m going to be back in the elk woods to finish the season out the next three days, but hopefully they’ll hang around in to next week so we can get another good shoot or two out of them.
